Biography
Born and raised in Arlington, Texas. I am a second generation UT graduate. My degree is neurobiolgy with a few dabbles into the art history and high school education realms. I think Austin is quite lovely and I adore the strange mix of people that somehow migrate to this hill country hot spot. I am currently teaching Biology at Vista Ridge High school in Cedar Park (GO RANGERS!). I laugh every single day at my job and as a result love going to work. I enjoy running and renting movies. Sunday mornings are my favorite time of the week. I'm a sucker for ice cream or cookies and milk.
Personal Statement
One day I discussed cancer with my class and slowly each student began to raise their hand and share their stories, thoughts, and questions about cancer. Every student in every class was somehow touched by this disease. It was at that moment that I realized this disease has far reaching effects and I decided to dedicate my mind, my body and my heart to this cause and for all those affected by the disease. Fighting any disease, especially cancer requires bravery, endurance, courage, and love and I feel that this ride would provide analogous emotions and leave me with an experience I will never forget.
