I love soccer, biking, running and just about any other outdoor activity. After graduating from high school, I decided to take several years off to work and travel. During that time, I spent three months on the Appalachian Trail, then hitch-hiked back to Austin. Eventually, I returned to school and became an English major. I still spend summers doing such things as raft guiding, kayaking and dreaming about the "perfect trip."
My grandfather passed away from cancer almost one year ago. Seeing him during chemotherapy, and then attached to oxygen tanks was one of the most painful experiences of my life. I desperately loved this man, and felt powerless to help when he was sick. This ride allows me to fight cancer in my own way. By holding awareness clinics and educating people about this disease, perhaps we can save other families from similar situations.
