by Rob Secker Apr 20, 2008 This weekend I went on two fairly long rides out east. We rode pretty much the same route out to Elgin and back. I stupidly didn't wear sun block the first day so I have a very defined tan on my arms and legs. Who would have thought 6 hours in direct sunlight would leave you with a nasty burn. The first day I took pretty slow - hanging back to make sure nobody got lost. Of course I was of no help because everyone seemed to know the route better than me. The second day Dane, Abby and I cruised pretty fast into a constant head wind blowing from the east. We turned around in Elgin and with the wind at our backs and the roads infinitely smoother we hauled to Manor - averaging about 20 mph on the way back. We got a call from a "lost" group behind us and met up with them. It wasn't that exciting so I'm surprised you're still reading this post. I just thought I'd let you guys know how my training is going. I have a week til the century test. I'm not that worried about it. It will be tough but there's not much I can do about it now. TTFN
