Day 2
by Rob Secker
Jun 08, 2008

We awoke to some T4k alums cooking us banana pancakes and eggs for breakfast. Very delicious. We got on the road after an emotional ride dedication (where we go around a circle saying why we ride) and an unexpectedly emotional Rockies-Sierra separation. It was weird splitting into two groups. It, obviously halved the size of our group which has been logistically much better - even after one day.

We had a glorious tail wind today with awesome rest stops put on by Geoff and Scott. Not bad for a first day. During one 20 mile stretch I dont think Trent and I dropped below 22 mph. It got really hot for the last 20 miles and a few riders, particularly those not accustomed to the Texas heat, felt pretty bad. But we all made it. No worries. We also had a bunch of flats(Ivan 2, Mike 2, Evan 1, Stella 1,) which I suspect is because everyone was told to inflate to 120 psi. Oh well. We scored a lot of great donated meals today -DQ and BBQ. We also have actualy beds tonight. We're staying at Tarleton State University. Great place.

Ok I'm late for a team meeting. Gotta run.
