Day 19

An easy day! Only 40 miles today (a distance I feared during training camp)

Ariel left us this morning as we were packing up our stuff. It was sad to see her go - just like 3 weeks ago..

It was a pretty uneventful ride. Our rest stop was full of fresh fruit and vegies from Boulder. Geoff Abraham told me a ten mile story. It's funny how miles have replaced units of time...

We rolled into Ft. Collins around 12:30. I was the first one to the host familiy's house. I don't think anybody was trying again. We're staying at Bill and Margi Beech's house. Bill is a UT alum.

Lunch was a full spread of ham, roast beef, turkey and other sandwich makings. I have begun to not be hungry after rides. I think it's because the pace has slowed down and I'm in better shape. A month ago I would have inhaled that food. Today I just sat looking at it for a few minutes - and that's no reflection on the quality of the food.

A group of us took a tour of the New Belgium Brewery. It was exactly what I expected out of a brewery....Lots of fermenting beer....Actually it was much busier than I thought it would be. It was Bike to Work Week - that might have something to do with it.

We showered in a sports club and came back to the Beech's for dinner. We had a huge reception - it seemed like the entire neighborhood came out. BBQ and homemade icecream were involved.

I'd like to thank two other specific people. A massage therapist and a bike mechanic came over to the Beech's house. They worked on our bikes and muscles for many hours straight. It was incredible. Our bikes are all tuned up and our muscles are relaxed...

Another great day. An easy ride and a great host.

OH so it's rained everyday since Oklahoma - but only after we get off our bikes. We haven't felt rain since Day 0
