by Rob Secker Jun 30, 2008 Sorry I haven't blogged in a while. We've been at host places without internet for a while. Ok so... Ft Collins to Laramie. We were lead out of town by Bill. The first rest stop was after a pretty long climb up through the mountains. It wasn't too bad...just long. The next twenty mile stretch contained the border. Usually borders mean races. Mike and I started at the back of the pack and speeded ahead to reach the front (Abby). After we caught Abby Mike just stayed with her and I continued on my way. I sensed that nobody wanted to race but that wasn't about to stop me. I went as hard as I could (alone) through the most hilly terrain I've seen all trip. I got the the border/rest stop 7 minutes before Mike and Abby. The rest of the ride was pretty windy and hilly. It was essentially downhill from the border but the wind made it feel harder than it could have been. Today I rode by myself for most of the ride. I kind of liked it. I could go as slow or as fast as I wanted to. I didn't talk to anyone...but we don't really talk in pacelines anyway. After we got to the church in Laramie we all met our host families for the night. Mine was Laucky (sp?) Ingram - and Australian teaching at the University of Wyoming. He (and Sarah) were awesome hosts. Trent and I really lucked out on hosts. After showering etc we drove out to another host families house where we all ate a taco pot luck dinner.
