About:
Greetings,
Just a brief bio about me. I'm Daniel Van Dongen, Son of Criss and Craig Van Dongen and brother to Monica Reigert I am from Rhode Island, however over the last few years I've been living in a number of states including North Carolina, California and Florida. Most recently I've landed in Austin, Texas where I have been working as a full-time Occupational Therapist at Brackenridge Hospital and conducting research in the Health Education department at the University of Texas. As many of you may know this will be my second long trek across our beautiful country. In 2006 I participated in the Journey of Hope raising funds and awareness for the needs of people with disabilities. While that ride was a long and treacherous 4,200 miles, crossing the country from Oregon to Washington D.C... This ride spanning the country from south to north will be even longer with rides including the Ozarks route that creep into the 5,000 mile mark. I ride for my uncle Dennis Fay, who died recently with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, a cancer of the blood. As a family member, we all feel the awesome energy and spirit that he left on this earth and I want to put it to good use, and urge you to help fund my ride. The majority of your Donation will go directly toward cancer research at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston. Please donate to a cause, one that we are all seemingly connected to, and let me spread a message of Hope to many people struggling with the disease so that we can together end Cancer once and for all.
Why I Ride
This ride cannot be done without your support. I have to raise a minimum of 4,500. That's one dollar for every mile I ride from Austin to Anchorage.
