Why I Ride

When I think of disease, names flow through my mind in a constant stream of strength. Each name passes over obstacles beyond that which I can imagine: blood tests, struggling caregivers, overwhelming financial burdens – the list goes on. While disease seeks only to take, we ride to show that nothing is stronger than that which Hope, Knowledge, & Charity can overcome. Upon visiting Southwestern Medical Center and understanding the projects we support, we found ourselves in awe. I am grateful for the individuals, including my dad, who attended Southwestern Medical and dedicate their lives to saving others. I ride for those who are patient beyond belief and brilliant beyond understanding. I ride for Peter who is currently battling prostate cancer and brightens his daughter's world every day. I ride for Barbara who passed away and has a son who makes everyone around him proud to know him. I ride for my teammates and the reasons they ride – all constant inspirations every day.
