Texas 4000 offers applicants the opportunity of a lifetime- the chance to fight cancer and bring a message of hope, knowledge and charity to communities large and small, over 4,500 miles of North America.
Eligibility and RequirementsTo be eligible for the ride, you must (1) be enrolled at University of Texas at Austin at time of application, (2) be enrolled at University of Texas at Austin for a minimum of one semester during your ride year (i.e. fall of 2010 or entire 2010-2011 school year) (3) reside in Austin, Texas during the fall and spring prior to summer ride.Applicants should be healthy and active - no endurance sports experience is required, but expect to spend plenty of time in a rigorous training program for the ride. Curing cancer requires research, and research requires funding. We are committed to helping find a cure, and expect each team member to raise a minimum of $4,500- a dollar per mile of our ride. Lastly, as a team member, you will be expected to actively participate in the planning, preparation, and execution of the ride, starting as soon as you are invited to join the team. Above all, we are looking for applicants who are passionate about fighting cancer! We believe that this passion will motivate the necessary training, fundraising and participation we expect from our riders.
