Hi, my name is Julian Jones. I'm a Junior at UT majoring in Electrical Engineering / Pre-medical. I grew up in San Marcos, TX, a friendly town that has a wonderful small town feel. My college adventures have taken me from MIT in Massachusetts, to the wonderful university that I call home now.
I'm a friendly person that enjoys meeting new people and trying new things. My hobbies include running, biking, weightlifting, and playing instruments. I'm a member of the Longhorn band, so that keeps be really busy, but there's always time for what's important to us.
Personal Statement
As a society, we've been taught to fear the unknown. Cancer is one of those things that affects many, yet much is unknown about how to effectively treat it. The strength I see that cancer patients and survivors display is almost unreal. They have strength to keep going through life, jobs, etc. to hope that their sacrifice will lead to victory. If cycling for a cure can help these courageous individuals, I want to be part of it. I've seen both family and friends battle this disease, and it's time that I donate my time, strength and desire to help make forward progress in research.
