Personal Statement
Not often do you have the opportunity to make something good out of something as scary as cancer. When I was young my grandma endured chemotherapy and lost all of her hair as a result. Many would have bought a wig or some nice hats at that point but she did not. Along with my grandfather she painted her head to resemble an Easter egg on Easter weekend. I am motivated to make a difference in someone's life as she did in mine. You see, rather than grimace at the pain that I know she experienced when I think of her hardships, I laugh at the thought of her head painted those curious pastel colors. I ride this summer in reverence and admiration of my Grandmother and Father namely, for beating cancer. If I can share hope across the country with my gift of good health then I see no greater accomplishment for my first college summer.
