Texas 4000 COVID Updates
Dear Texas 4000 Family,
We hope you and your loved ones are continuing to stay safe and healthy. We wanted to update you on the status of the 2020 ATLAS ride and the 2020 Team.
The health and safety of the riders, hosts, and supporters continues to be our first priority as we make plans for the summer. With that in mind, Texas 4000 staff and board, with collaborative input from team leadership and riders, have decided to dedicate efforts to planning for a four-week delay contingency for the summer ride. During this time, the team will be looking to engage the community through a virtual ride.
The delay has caused us to adjust plans for other Texas 4000 events. As a result, the board and staff have decided to cancel this year’s ATLAS ride. There are a few reasons for this cancellation. Obviously, the delay of the summer ride makes the date of May 30 incongruous with the start of the ride. A large event like ATLAS requires many moving parts like insurance, getting permits from the city and coordinating vendors, so moving the date by one month would be difficult. We have also had the need of all staff to focus on both teams during this unusual time.
We know that this comes as a disappointment, as we are sure that you were looking forward to being able to ride with the 2020 team on Day 1. Know that we are excited for you, the community, alumni and supporters to engage with the team during the first four weeks of the virtual ride.
Please fill out this form to be notified when we launch our virtual plans!
The 2020 team needs your support more than ever as they adjust to a unique summer ride all while continuing to spread Hope, Knowledge and Charity. We all remain dedicated to our mission to Fight Cancer Every Mile and we look forward to you by our side.
With continuing love from Austin to Anchorage,
The Texas 4000 teams, staff and board
