Longhorns raise awareness funds on cross country rides
Imagine cycling 4,000 miles across the country through rain, wind, snow, and blistering heat. That’s exactly what two UT organizations, FACE AIDS and Texas 4000, do each summer—and for very good causes.
Though not affiliated with each other, both student groups have turned to cycling to spread awareness and raise money for their respective causes. At this very moment, the participating Longhorns are journeying cross-country armed with two wheels, helmets, and unparalleled passion.
To help fight cancer, Texas 4000 started their 70-day ride from Austin to Anchorage on June 2. FACE AIDS ships out today for their coast-to-coast 67-day ride from San Francisco to Boston.
Here are the need-to-know facts about the two races that have captured Longhorn hearts.
