Each year, after Texas 4000 riders return from their summer ride, they can apply to serve on our Grants Committee with fellow Texas 4000 alumni, board members, staff, and community members. The Grants Committee invites  cancer research institutions & support service organizations that Texas 4000 riders visited with during the summer to apply for grant funding. The Grants Committee is a continuation of the Texas 4000 leadership development program, allowing the rider to participate in the full circle of the philanthropic process. The riders who raised money to fight cancer now have the privilege to award it to organizations doing great work in the fight against cancer. These former riders, now alumni, will review grant proposals, ask follow-up questions, and build lasting relationships for Texas 4000 with organizations doing cancer research and providing direct services to those affected by cancer.

Since Texas 4000’s inception in 2004, we have awarded over $4.6 million in grants towards the fight against cancer.
