About: Alex Menzies is a fifth year computer science major at UT who is growing dangerously close to graduating. Over the years, he has worked as an Resident Assistant, learned to juggle, and has worked on an instrument installed on the NASA IRTF telescope in Hawaii. Originally from Utah, he enjoys frequent bicycle rides into the mountains and is an ardent fan of old sci-fi movies.

Why I Ride

Unlike many Texas 4000 team members, I have not been directly affected by cancer. However, that does not stop me from wanting to show my support for those who have. I want to do what I can to help fight cancer in hopes that someday everyone can be as fortunate as I have been. Although it will be difficult, I hope the determination I demonstrate by peddling to Alaska will inspire strength in those who must overcome far greater challenges.
