About: I just graduated from UT in December in Aerospace Engineering and now I get to live out a childhood fantasy and work in the space program on the shuttle. Why yes I am a rocket scientist!

I grew up in San Antonio and pretty much lived there my entire life until I came to Austin for college, but now it seems like I'm moving every semester, whether it's just to a new apartment or to a different city for work.

I've only recently really gotten into cycling (about 2 years now) but there's no way I'm ever giving it up now. I love being able to go places that cars can't and to see all the interesting stuff that you miss when zooming by on a car. Plus I love the looks I get from people when I say what I'm doing this summer or how many bikes I have.

I am unbelievably thrilled that I have the chance to be a part of this wonderful endeavor and I can't wait for it to start!

Why I Ride

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones in that before I became involved in Texas 4000 I didn't personally know anyone who has or had cancer. Probably my most real experience with cancer was reading Gilda Radner's autobiography about "the most unfunny thing in the world". The reason I am doing this ride then is because it doesn't matter that I haven't known anyone with cancer before. Cancer is indiscriminate of gender, age, or ethnicity and there is always the chance that it will effect me, my family, or my friends. I am doing this ride because I don't want that to ever happen, but if it does, I want a cure or the best treatments possible to be available.
