About: Hello, my name is Collin Ratcliff. I spent the first nineteen years of my life growing up in Arlington, Texas; Austin is the only other place I have lived. While in Arlington, I spent much of my time playing sports, hanging out with friends and spending time with my family. About the 8th grade I went on my church youth ski trip. I bring this up because this is one of the events that best encompass my passions: the outdoors, friends, family, faith and skiing. Jumping forward a few years, I find myself in my 4th year here at UT about to graduate with a Biology Degree and trying to figure out what next year will bring. I think I might find myself running off to Taos, New Mexico for a year and try to figure things out there, but I'm open to suggestions!?!
Why I Ride
Cancer has touched everyone in one-way or another. I have seen friends fight cancer better then I ever could and witnessed others mourn cancer's devastating effects. Throughout most of my experiences I found myself inspired by their strength and yet helpless to do anything. The Texas 4000 for Cancer gives me the opportunity to take action, to do my little part to help find the cure. I've heard past rider's say they ride for those who can't. This ride has always been about cancer patients. It's about recognizing those that inspired me and thanking them for the impact they have made in my life the best way I know how, by riding 4000 miles for them.
