About: Hi! My name is Daniel Kietzer, and I'm a longhorn in my third year, currently studying Anthropology. My past is nearly as interesting as my present; thanks to two wonderful and loving parents I've had the opportunity to live in or travel to some of the most amazing places in the world. I'm adventurous and ambitious, yet highly focused on the projects I choose to undertake. Effective efficiency by means of simplicity is a very important model by which I live my life; little excites me more than a well made espresso, a smooth writing pen and nice paper, and the pure pleasure derived from the simplistic nature of travel by bicycle. I long to see the world without the constraints of an automobile body or airplane fuselage; I think a transcontinental cycling journey will get me started on this goal...

Why I Ride

What I love most about Texas 4000 for Cancer is it's ability to inspire - one of humanity's most powerful, yet often times overlooked tools. Undertaking an act as over-zealous, as outrageous, and as unbelievable as cycling from Austin, Texas to Anchorage, Alaska - with no alternative motives but to assist those who need it most - is inspiration in it's purest form. It begins with an ideology, an unwaivering belief, that the seemingly impossible is only an illusion; no hope, no dream is ever too far out of reach. My dream? A cure - one entity, that I know, from the bottom of my heart, we will find during my lifetime. Dreams turn to actions, and actions move mountains. But, this dream will become reality only through collective effort - united, the power of individuals is unstoppable. Through my selfless actions, I seek to unite via inspiration; and I ask that you utilize my example, share my dream, and make our fight your fight. I ride for those both near and distant to my heart who can't; and I ride to show those who can, they must - with belief and action the impossible is possible...and we're closer than we've ever been...
