About: Raised in Southeast Houston by my loving parents and older sister, and now attending the University of Texas, I have been a Texan my whole life. I am currently in my third year in the PPA Accounting program at UT. Since coming to UT, most of my free time has been spent playing sports. My freshman year I rowed for Texas Crew, and ever since have come to love endurance type sports. I am starting to discover the world of cycling but especially enjoy running on the trails of Town Lake and swimming in Barton Springs. I am naturally a pretty shy person at first, but once I open up, it's hard to keep me quiet. I am very excited and feel very blessed to have an opportunity to be a part of Texas 4000 for Cancer and hope to have an impact on those that we interact with throughout the year and upcoming summer.
Why I Ride
Cancer is one of the things in this world we have yet to comprehend. It can afflict anybody at anytime, and even the strongest willed individuals can fall victim to it. After seeing firsthand the crippling effects of Cancer and what it can do to a person and how it affects everyone around them, I have come to realize how important the fight against Cancer is. Texas 4000 is more than just a cross-continental bike ride. Texas 4000 is the epitome of hope. Hearing stories and seeing how past riders were able to reach out to communities all across North America and raise cancer awareness as well as comfort those affected by Cancer was what inspired me to be a part of this organization. I want to ride for those who have been affected by Cancer and hopefully contribute to finding a cure so that this terrible disease can ultimately be conquered.
