About: I was born in Denton, Texas and virtually didn't leave until I came to Austin for college. I'm a thrid year Government major at UT. I love staying active, being outdoors, and seeing new things; what better way to spend my summer than biking to Alaska?

Why I Ride

As a child I remember playing with my grandmother's wigs. I didn't know she had them because the chemotherapy for her ovarian cancer had caused her to bald; all I knew was that they were great for dress up and the foam heads made works of art when I shoved beaded pins into them. Fifteen years later, my grandfather was diagnosed with prostate cancer and I realized I was twenty years old and didn't know any more about cancer than I did at age five. I feel I need to educate myself, and devote my time to educating others about this disease that affects us and our loved ones.
