About:

I am proud to call myself a true Austinite. Born and raised here in Austin, the city’s beautiful natural resources fueled my love for being outdoors. I had limitless opportunities for adventure, and growing up with an older brother meant there was never a dull moment. I am blessed to have the unfailing support of an amazing family and a wonderful group of friends. I love to travel, and I figure what better way to see the country than to bike across it?
I am graduating this May with a degree in Human Development and Family Sciences, and am hoping to attend graduate school next fall. I love the thrill of a new challenge, and I am excited about all the adventure that Texas 4000 will no doubt bring this summer.

Why I Ride

What do I think about fighting cancer? That question arouses so many emotions, but the most pervasive is hope. I know there is hope in the number of people working towards a cure and I believe there is hope in the number of people who donate their time, money, and effort to assist in that search. Cancer has pervaded our society, and now affects nearly every household. My grandmother, or G-Mommy as we call her, has been an inspiration and role model for me. Her strong will proved relentless when she beat cancer at the age of 78, and my family is fortunate that her story is one of hope.
I believe that there is a cure for cancer waiting to be discovered, and that while many suffer, research has made stories like my family’s more and more frequent. By riding to Alaska, I can spread the hope that I have experienced and actively support the ongoing fight for a cure. Though I can not personally operate on a patient, or discover a cure, I will ride for those who can not, and fight to raise awareness that there is a cure on the way, that there is hope, and that I am passionate about eradicating cancer. I ride to spread knowledge, to find a cure, and to let everyone know that whether you are 8 or 78 there is hope that the search for a cure endures.
I dedicate my ride to G-Mommy, Aunt Kathryn, and Butch. I ride in celebration of hope for all who suffer and for all who prevail.
