About:
I was born and raised in Granbury, TX. The youngest of 3 kids, my two older brothers showed me no mercy and I practically lived in the dirt of baseball fields, go cart tracks and campsites. I was a puppeteer at one point in my life, albeit not a very good one. My family is my rock and they have been so supportive in all the decisions I have made in my life. To date, my favorite class has been food science, I can make a mean puff pastry. My mom always told me to find my passion and spend your life learning from it. I am pursuing a B.S. in Nutrition and will become a registered dietitian. I’ve worn the same pair of chucks for 5 years, I love La Dia de Los Muertos and my favorite alarm clock is the sunshine.
Why I Ride
I ride for those who hear, read and see about the devastation of cancer but have not been directly affected by it. My aunt lost her fight against cancer the month before I was born in 1988, she left behind 5 siblings and 2 daughters. My experience with it has been through my mom, I could feel her pain although I didn't directly experience it. I ride for the people that cancer leaves behind. The family and friends that have fought the fight and live each day without those they love. Cancer is a worldwide celebrity, and overexposure can cause you to become numb to it. I ride to help keep the word going, that this fight is only just beginning, for the people who had loved ones taken from them before they knew what was happening. I hope to be able to contribute to research so that future generations can spend their lives living it, not in treatment. I’ve gotten to learn the molecular basis of cancer, the factors and variables that influence it and prevention is possible.
I ride for my Grandaddy Bob, Grandpa Jace, Mimi, Grandma D, Aunt Meris and Aunt Dee.
