About:

Hey, hey, hey all you beautiful people!
I was born in San Jose, California, but spent most of my childhood in the Sin City, Las Vegas, Nevada. I moved to San Antonio, TX when I was about 11 and that is where I reside now when I am not attending the fine University of Texas at Austin. I am a third year biomedical engineering student and hope to continue and become a doctor/researcher and find the cure for diabetes.
I was diagnosed with type I diabetes March 3rd, 2008. I remember this day like it was yesterday because it was probably the scariest moment in my life. But I decided right there and then that I wasn’t going to let a ”˜disease’ dominate my life. I became an expert on diabetes and love talking about it, so don’t be afraid to ask me any questions!
Overall, I am a passionate person and honestly wish I could help every person in this world. My favorite person in the whole world is my grandma (aka my bibi). Like if for any weird reason I had to give up all my happiness for her to be happy, I would do it in a heartbeat. My loves include ice cream (funny cause I’m a diabetic), music, scarves, laughing, and I love people! My dislikes include driving, rude people, and cancer! I believe that knowledge and kindness can solve any problem. If you ask me what I want to do when I grow up, I would say, “I don’t really know. All I know is that wanna help people.”

Why I Ride

“Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.”
Mother Teresa

I don’t want to sound like a cornball when I say that diabetes changed my life and I now use it as a learning opportunity. Knowledge truly is power and through education comes awareness. I try very hard to spread awareness of diabetes and now I will strive just as hard to bring about awareness of cancer. I’ve never let having diabetes stop me from achieving my goals. I made it on to the Texas 4000 team and in the summer of 2013 I will make it all the way to Alaska. Along the way, I will raise so much money to go toward cancer research and touch so many people lives. Its true folks, if you really put your mind to something nothing is impossible.

To spread hope, knowledge and charity. That’s the Texas 4000 motto and it is now ingrained in my heart. Cancer is something that affects everybody. Someone’s mom, dad, brother, sister, grandma, or grandpa is affected. A disease so ravenous needs to be stopped. Together we can and will stop it. I say now that every person is affected by cancer, but in the future I hope we can say that no one is affected by cancer.

I ride for my grandpa who I call Nanaji. I ride for my mom, dad, brother, sister, and the rest of my family. I love them very much and would not be anywhere without them. I also ride for my best friend, Hailey Ellebracht, and her family. I ride for people and their struggles, for people who cannot ride, and for people who think we are crazy for riding. I ride for you, me, and us.
