About:
I am a proud Longhorn and even prouder Texan. In fact, I can think of very few things that define me better. My Texas roots have shaped me into a friendly, outgoing and resilient person. I love getting to know people and hearing everyone’s story. I love learning and creating things and am always looking for an adventure.
I have a voracious appetite for books and knowledge of all kinds. In fact, one of the most exciting realizations is that I will never stop learning and I can continue being a student for my whole life. I never take for granted the ability to ask a question and have the answer so readily available.
Further, I love my family and everything they have taught me. I am blessed to be one of three beautiful girls born to parents who have never muted our goals or aspirations. This is evident in the very different paths each of us has taken. My youngest sister is a two-time national champion fencer with very realistic Olympic aspirations, and the middle sister is studying at the University of Houston. We are close-knit and inspirational to each other. I owe all that I am to these wonderful people.
Finally, I have a heart for service and relationships that drives me in so many ways. I spend a lot of time tutoring students around Austin in math and personal finance. I enjoy helping others in the tiniest ways and offering what I can to make someone’s day brighter or enable previously out of reach opportunities. Life becomes so much more interesting when I focus on what I can do to be of service to each and every person that crosses my path.
Why I Ride
I ride in memory of my grandfather, Humberto Guerra. I grew up watching my granddad bravely fight cancer all while teaching my family about what is important in this lifetime. He was passionate about cancer research, and I know this an adventure he is proud of. Shortly after submitting my application, we got news that my grandmother, Gail Guerra, was diagnosed with breast cancer. I ride for both of my grandparents and so many others who have dealt with the fear, discomfort, and uncertainty brought on by this disease.
