About: Hey, y’all! I’m so happy you’re here :)

My name is Arden and I’m a second-year Exercise Science major from San Antonio, TX. I may not know exactly what I want to do after college but I do know I want to help impact the community around me to live a healthy lifestyle.

I've always had a huge passion for fitness by being involved in my High School's cross country, track, soccer, and swim teams. Now, I’m a part of the Texas Triathlon Club here at UT and it’s challenged me in so many aspects. There's something about tackling a challenging workout or race with your teammates that creates a special bond between you. I can't wait to make these connections with my new 2024 team!

As much as I love being active I also love serving my community. Service has always been something very important to me. When I heard about Texas 4000 I thought that it would be a perfect fit for me. Not only will I get to take on a bike ride of a lifetime but I’ll get to give back and support the fight against cancer.

Some other fun things about me are that I'm in a sorority, Alpha Chi Omega, and Young Life. I love to find cute coffee shops around the city to go get some work done and attend yoga classes to help me destress about all that work I have to get done.

Why I Ride

I believe there is a parallel between cancer and the Texas 4000 ride. Those affected by cancer have to go through a long and strenuous journey. There is no quick solution or one-day cure. Their lives are prolonged, and they have to have hope. They have to fight for their lives every day. I'll be able to experience a similar endurance process. I want to be an inspiration to others. People who suffer will feel like I have their back, and that they are not alone. I will be committed to helping them so that they feel included and cared for.

Not only do I want to be an inspiration, but I also want cancer patients to know that I truly care. I'd endure something as difficult as this to support people in their fight against cancer. A victory is not one day's ride. The victory is to endure a long-term solution. There is no guarantee that I will make it through the ride or that a cancer patient will survive. I won't be concerned with failure but rather with the long-term outcome of success.

I love to challenge myself. In challenges, there is an opportunity for growth. This ride will be a great challenge to raise money for a good cause. While I do love to challenge myself, I also love accomplishments. I think my life will be enhanced by partaking in this ride. What I hope to accomplish is completing the ride and making memories leading up to and during it. I also hope to make friends and impact the community around me. To cause a ripple effect through various people, not just those fighting cancer but anyone who supports the cause of finding a cure.
